Kevan and I both used to be teachers. We graduated from the University of Lethbridge with Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Education. And then, Kevan decided to pursue his passion: photography. It took him 5 years of university and 2 years of teaching to find it. It took me a bit longer to leave, but when the opportunity to join Kevan in business came along, I was excited. I had always wanted to be in business; the idea of building something from scratch intrigued me. And now, here we are. This is Kevan’s 10th year in business as a photographer. Hurray!
However, there are days during the summer, in the thick of wedding season, when I think, “We could be on vacation, together, right now, if we had stayed in Education.” When he is sitting at his computer for hours at a time, from morning until night, I wonder if perhaps we made the crazy choice. In all reality, we did make the crazy choice. We exchanged a somewhat predictable life for adventure (and remember, adventure includes just as many dragons as it does chests of gold). So far, it has been a pretty exciting way to live our life, but who knows what the balance will be when all is said and done. I guess that’s the fun of it.
The reason I am thinking about all this is because it is the first day of school. One way I know that I am in the right place in my life is that I am so glad that I don’t have to be at school today! Instead, I get to post a bunch of pictures of an absolute bombshell of a girl, who has also chosen to live a life of adventure. She has taken risks, worked hard, and accomplished much. Thanks so much, J, for letting us post your pics, and best of luck as you move on to the next chapter of your adventure!
