Sometimes life throws you curveballs, and sometimes the ball just hits you right in the face. The client I’m profiling today experienced the latter.
A couple of years ago, L contracted Guillain-Barre syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that randomly attacks a person’s nerves. The symptoms can be anything from tingling and muscle weakness to full-on paralysis. L was one of the unlucky ones, having to endure lower body paralysis for some time.
After persevering throughs months and months of drug and physiotherapy, L was able to get back to most of her normal activities. She does, however, have lingering symptoms and when she came in for her shoot, she had to really push herself physically. She made the decision in advance to let go of all of her former expectations of herself, and to celebrate the person she was in that present moment. I think the photos celebrate her beauty, determination and grace in the face of an extremely difficult challenge. We love you, L, and wish you all the best in the world!
