Looking Back and Looking Ahead

As we are nearing the end of 2017, I am naturally doing some reflecting and some looking ahead.  I am thankful for so many things.  I am thankful that we have been able to work with so many incredible women who have chosen to appreciate themselves for what and who they are right now. That is hard to do in a world full of ideas for “self-improvement.” I am thankful that we can live and work in such a beautiful area of the world.  The fact that we can successfully run our business in a rural area is incredible, and says so much about the community of which we are a part. I am thankful that I can work with my husband to bring such value to people.  We haven’t killed each other yet and we have been doing this for 5 years – we must be doing something right.

Kevan and I are never content to maintain the status quo, however.  We want 2018 to be a year of creating even more beautiful work, of honouring our clients even better, and of offering an even more unforgettable photography experience.  We look forward to a year of great conversations, lots of laughs, and amazing photographs.

Before the year is out, we want to share a few photos from one of our recent shoots.  As you look at these images, we encourage you to notice how the model is largely contained in her own space.  For most of the shots, she isn’t looking at the camera, but is lost in her own world.  We do this to communicate that a woman isn’t beautiful because someone else acknowledges her beauty, but because it is inherent.  Her value isn’t in being an object of someone else’s story, but in being the subject of her own. The last image of this series is all the more powerful because it is as if she is drawing you into her world and her story.  Comments on the blog are welcome, so feel free to share your thoughts (as long as they’re respectful, of course!).

Want to take a big step in self-confidence in 2018?  Book a photo shoot with us. You may want to do a boudoir shoot, but we also focus on portraiture of all kinds – individual, mother/daughter, generations, grad, etc.
